Field reports from the HBV team: what happened up there, and what it means for the journeys we lead with you.

Lenin Peak, twice in ten days
In 2025 Yorick Vion stood on the summit of Lenin Peak, 7,134 metres in the Pamir, twice within ten days.
Reaching a 7,000-metre summit once already asks for weeks of patience. Doing it twice in ten days is mostly a matter of method: an acclimatisation plan built day by day, camps and logistics ready before they are needed, and the discipline to turn around when the mountain says no.
Lenin Peak is often the first great altitude objective for climbers coming from the Alps: a long, glaciated mountain where the difficulty is the altitude more than the technique. That is exactly why preparation, the rhythm of the climb and the decisions of the guide make the difference.
The same approach shapes the Peak Lenin expedition HBV leads today: acclimatisation planned with care, a small team and a guide who knows the mountain from the inside.

Manaslu, on skis from 8,163 metres
In 2022 Yorick guided on Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world, and came down on skis.
Skiing from an 8,000-metre summit brings together two worlds: high-altitude mountaineering and steep skiing in thin air. Every turn is planned in advance, and the snow conditions decide whether the descent happens at all.
The same year he also guided on Everest and Lhotse. Today Yorick is the only French guide actively leading ski expeditions above 8,000 metres, and this experience is at the heart of the ski expeditions HBV organises, from the Himalaya to the Altai.
For those who dream of it, the path starts much earlier: ski touring on glaciers, a first high-altitude objective, then the great ranges, step by step and with the right guide.
